Today my daughter came to me with the story of Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 and the fact that the above picture brought her to tears. In the sunbeam to the right in the picture is a tiny pin prick of light, which is the Earth.

The absolute visual insignificance of the planet in the universe is obvious in this shot and it can lead to some profound thoughts if you let it.

In the picture above there are whole families, cultures, nations… and an entire world suspended in nothing.

But yet, as a species we are oh so very self important. Religions, Wars, Supremacy, all the cruelty that we inflict on our fellow human beings… all in the name of control and self righteousness. Our leaders have delusions of grandeur, while our entire planet is less significant than a speck of dust in a mote of light.
