I don’t remember where I heard it, maybe from someone on the internet or from my daughter’s therapist but it had a profound impact on how I approach my own anxiety.

Anxiety is often manifested through the imagination of scenarios that may never occur.

This was profound because I used to dwell on everything that could go wrong, “Hope for the best, but plan for the worst” was my motto. And while I don’t completely ignore those possibilities (because that would be foolish), they don’t monopolize my train of thought. I would rather allow myself to be excited by the positive things that can manifest instead.
