My dad used to say “nothing is more important than anything else.”
At the time it seemed like he was trying to drive home that the things that upset us as teenagers were inconsequential, which at the time was hurtful. But now it seems more like the big things are no more important than the little things, AND vice versa.
In the moment anything can feel earthshattering, but in the aftermath, looking back, you may realize that it was an overreaction to the reality of it.
Once the event is in the past, its really no more or less consequential than any other past event.
Ultimately, I disagree.
The level of importance anything holds is a personal decision and really can’t be dictated by anyone else. If it is important to you, stay true to it whether that means staying the course or rocking the boat and know that with time this valuation can change.
